South King Fire & Rescue wants all of our citizens to have a fun celebration on the Fourth of July and remember that doesn’t need to include consumer fireworks. In fact, fireworks are banned in the cities of Federal Way and Des Moines.  Also,
if it has a stick or fins and it goes up or if it blows up, it is illegal on non-tribal property in all of Washington State.

The latest available statistics for fires and  injuries  caused by fireworks in the US for the three days around the fourth of July  are 17800 fires and 9600 ER visits. These incidents are 100% preventable. We encourage parents to set a good example for their families by attending a public fireworks display. They are free, fun and truly safe and sane.

Here is information about the two local displays at the Des Moines Marina and Federal Way’s Celebration Park.
